Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit was filed after a targeted cyberattack on Steel Warehouse’s computer systems in January 2025, during which files containing personal information were accessed. The complaint alleged that Steel Warehouse failed to adequately protect this information, which included Social Security numbers, birthdates and financial information.
Steel Warehouse denies the allegations, however agreed to settle to avoid the expense and risk of continued litigation.
