SET Environmental Inc. employees who worked for a location in Illinois or St. Louis, Missouri and had log-in credentials for a dash camera with inattentive driving software in a company-owned vehicle between March 1, 2019, and July 26, 2024, may qualify to receive a cash payment from a class action settlement.

SET Environmental Inc. agreed to pay up to $140,400 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. The lawsuit claims the company collected scans of drivers’ facial geometry through dash cameras in its vehicles without providing proper notice or obtaining consent as required by law.

Who can receive a SET Environmental payout?

Class members must meet the following criteria:

  • They were assigned to work at any SET Environmental Inc. location in Illinois or St. Louis, Missouri.
  • They were assigned log-in credentials for a dash camera with inattentive driving software.
  • They used a SET-owned vehicle equipped with this technology.
  • Their assignment and use occurred between March 1, 2019, and July 26, 2024.

How much is the biometric privacy settlement payout?

Pro Rata Settlement Share: The net settlement fund will be divided equally among all class members who received notice and did not exclude themselves.

No claim form required

Eligible class members who received a settlement notice do not need to submit a claim form or take any further action to receive payment. The settlement administrator has the necessary information to identify class members based on SET Environmental Inc.’s records.

Payout options

Settlement payments will be issued by paper check and mailed to eligible class members' addresses on file.
