
Consumers whom Seven Counties Services notified that a data breach that took place between July 19, 2024, and Aug. 12, 2024, affected their personal information may be eligible to claim up to $5,100 and/or other benefits from a class action settlement.
Seven Counties Services Inc. agreed to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging a cybersecurity incident exposed sensitive personal information. The lawsuit claimed Seven Counties failed to adequately secure its computer systems, resulting in unauthorized access to private data. As part of the settlement, Seven Counties will also implement additional security measures.
Who can file a claim?
The settlement class includes all individuals whose personal information the Seven Counties Services data breach that occurred between July 19, 2024, and Aug. 12, 2024, compromised.
Individuals whom Seven Counties Services notified that the incident involved their data are eligible to participate in the settlement and submit a claim.
How much can class members get?
Class members can claim one or more of the following benefits:
- Documented losses: Reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses up to $5,000 per person. These losses must be directly related to the data breach and supported by reasonable documentation. Eligible expenses include:
- Unreimbursed losses from fraud or identity theft
- Professional fees (such as those for attorneys, accountants or credit repair services)
- Costs to freeze or unfreeze credit reports
- Credit monitoring costs incurred after the breach
- Miscellaneous expenses like postage, notary, fax, copying or mileage
- Lost time: Compensation for up to four hours of time spent dealing with the effects of the data breach at $25 per hour ($100 maximum). Claimants must attest that they spend the time addressing the breach and describe the activities performed.
- Alternative cash payment: Instead of claiming documented losses or lost time, class members can claim a one-time $75 cash payment.
- Credit monitoring and identity theft protection: All class members can enroll in three years of one-bureau credit monitoring and identity theft protection services provided by CyEx.
The total amount paid out for all claims, including documented losses, lost time, alternative cash payments and credit monitoring costs, cannot exceed $1,000,000. If the total value of approved claims exceeds this cap, the settlement administrator will reduce payments proportionally.
How to claim a data breach settlement payout
Class members can file the online claim form or download and print the PDF claim form, complete it and mail it to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is April 20, 2026.

Is proof or documentation required to submit a claim?
- All claimants must provide the notice ID from the personalized notice they received in the mail or via email. Online claimants must also provide the confirmation code from the same notice.
- For documented losses, claimants must provide receipts or other non-self-prepared documentation showing their losses. Handwritten receipts alone are not sufficient, but class members may include them as supporting evidence.
- For lost time, claimants must attest under penalty of perjury to the number of hours spent and provide a description of the activities they performed in response to the breach.
- For the alternative cash payment or credit monitoring, class members must select the appropriate option.
