If you received a notice from Roosevelt University indicating that your private information may have been impacted in a data incident, you may be eligible to claim up to $2,500 from a class action settlement.

Roosevelt University has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged unauthorized access to its systems and certain files containing sensitive and/or personal information about its students and applicants.

Can I Claim an Award?

The settlement class includes all living individuals residing in the United States who were sent a notice letter by Roosevelt indicating that their private information may have been impacted in the data incident. This incident occurred on or about May 1, 2023, and involved unauthorized access to Roosevelt’s systems and certain files containing sensitive and/or personal information, including names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.

To be included in the settlement class, you must have received a notice letter from Roosevelt University. If you are unsure whether you are included, you can contact the settlement administrator for assistance.

What Awards Can Class Members Claim?

  • Documented Out-of-Pocket Expenses: Up to $2,500 for expenses such as unreimbursed bank fees, long-distance phone charges, cell phone charges, data charges, postage, gasoline for local travel, unreimbursed losses due to fraud or identity theft, and other related charges.
  • Reimbursement for Attested Lost Time: Up to three hours of lost time at $25 per hour, with a written description of how the time was spent.
  • Identity Theft Protection and Credit Monitoring: One year of free credit monitoring services, including identity theft insurance, real-time credit monitoring, and access to fraud resolution agents.

Is Proof Required to Claim the Reward?

Yes, proof is required to claim the reward. Class members must submit supporting documentation demonstrating the actual, unreimbursed expenses they are seeking reimbursement for. For lost time claims, class members must provide a written description of how the time was spent related to the data incident.

How do I Get Paid?

Class members can choose to receive their payment through PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, a virtual prepaid card, or a physical check. Indicate your preferred payment method on the claim form.
