Consumers enrolled in a Road Runner Sports VIP Rewards membership in California at any time between July 1, 2013, and May 1, 2025, and were charged a renewal fee may qualify to claim up to $25 in rewards cash, a reduced renewal fee or a free one-year VIP membership from a class action settlement.

Road Runner Sports Inc. agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the company violated California law by concealing the cost of VIP rewards membership renewals and failing to provide an easy way to cancel memberships.

Who is eligible for a Road Runner Sports payout?

Class members must meet all of the following criteria:

  • They were charged a fee to renew their membership.

Class members are divided into two main groups with different benefits:

  • Currently enrolled VIP rewards members: Those who still have an active VIP rewards membership as of the date the court grants final approval of the settlement.

Anyone whose renewal fees were fully refunded is excluded from the class.

Why did this class action settlement happen?

The class action lawsuit alleged Road Runner Sports used business practices that concealed the cost of VIP rewards membership renewals and made it difficult for customers to cancel.

Road Runner denies these allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the cost and risk of further litigation and to provide benefits to class members. As part of the settlement, Road Runner will also implement significant changes to its VIP rewards program, including clearer disclosures, improved cancellation processes and enhanced transparency in marketing and communications.
