Individuals who worked as field or damage investigators in the cable and telecom division at Project Resource Group Inc. between Oct. 31, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2024, may be eligible to claim a payment from a collective action settlement.
Project Resource Group Inc. agreed to pay $2.4 million to resolve a collective action lawsuit alleging the company misclassified certain employees as overtime-exempt and failed to pay overtime wages for hours they worked beyond 40 in a week.
Who can file a claim?
Claimants must meet the following settlement criteria:
- Project Resource Group Inc. employed them as a field or damage investigator in the cable and telecom division.
- They worked in this role at any time between Oct. 31, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2024.
The settlement administrator will determine eligibility using the company’s records. This settlement includes current and former employees.
How much can claimants receive?
The settlement administrator will distribute the fund, after deductions for attorneys’ fees, service awards and administrative costs, among claimants based on their weeks of employment. It will calculate each claimant's share by dividing the number of weeks they worked by the total number of eligible weeks all claimants worked then multiplying that fraction by the net settlement fund.
Payments are subject to payroll tax withholdings, and recipients will receive a Form W-2 for tax reporting purposes. The final payment amount may be less than the initial estimate due to required tax deductions.
How to claim a settlement rebate
Eligible claimants can complete the online claim form. There is no PDF claim form. The claim deadline is Jan. 28, 2026.
Claimants can dispute the company’s records regarding their employment or weeks worked by noting this on the claim form and include supporting documentation. The settlement administrator will review any disputes and make a final determination.
Information required
To file an online claim, individuals must provide the claimant ID they received with their settlement notice.
Payout options
The settlement administrator will mail payments by check to the address provided on the claim form. Individuals must cash their check within 90 days of issuance.
$2.4 million settlement fund breakdown
The $2.4 million settlement fund includes:
- Settlement administration costs: Up to $12,500
- Attorneys’ fees: Up to $800,000
- Attorneys’ expenses: Up to $8,414.97
- Service awards to named claimants: $10,000 each
- Arbitrator award: $10,000
- Payments to eligible claimants: The remaining balance
