Individuals who received a notice from Payactiv that the April 2025 data breach may have impacted their private information could qualify to submit a claim for up to $2,500 from a class action settlement. The cybersecurity incident compromised 202,192 people.

Payactiv Inc. agreed to settle a class action lawsuit claiming a targeted cyberattack affected its computer systems. The complaint alleged the company failed to adequately protect sensitive information, including names, dates of birth, financial account numbers and Social Security numbers.

Who can file a claim for a data breach settlement payout?

Class members are individuals residing in the United States who received a notice from Payactiv stating the April 2025 data breach may have impacted their private information.

How much are settlement payments?

Class members have the following benefit options:

  • Cash payment for documented losses: Class members can claim up to $2,500 for documented losses traceable to the data breach that occurred between April 3, 2025, and Sept. 12, 2026. This includes monetary losses due to identity theft or fraud; fees for credit reports, credit monitoring or freezing/unfreezing credit; cosst to replace IDs; and postage to contact financial institutions.
  • Credit monitoring: All class members can enroll in two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete credit monitoring services, which includes $1 million in financial fraud insurance and monitoring for fraud or identity theft, unauthorized financial transactions and personal information associated with high-risk transactions. Class members do not need to submit a claim form to receive this benefit.

How to claim a class action rebate

To receive a settlement payment, class members can file a claim online or print the PDF claim form to complete and mail to the settlement administrator.

The claim deadline is Sept. 12, 2026.

Class members can submit a credit monitoring enrollment reminder and instruction request online.

Required claim information and proof

  • To submit a claim or credit monitoring enrollment reminder online, class members must provide the login ID and PIN from the settlement notice.
  • To submit a documented losses claim, class members must provide supporting documentation, which may include receipts, bank or credit card statements showing unreimbursed fees or fraudulent charges, and other proof of identity theft of fraud.

Settlement fund breakdown

The settlement fund will include:

  • Settlement administration costs: To be determined
  • Attorneys' fees and litigation costs: Up to $700,000
  • Service awards to class representatives: Up to $1,500 each
  • Credit monitoring: Cost determined by number of enrollments
  • Payments to approved claimants: Total determined by number of valid claims

When is the Payactiv data breach settlement payout date?

The settlement administrator will issue payments to approved claimants approximately 75 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.

Why did this class action settlement happen?

The class action lawsuit claimed a targeted cyberattack on Payactiv Inc.'s computer systems in April 2025 compromised containing personal information during the breach. It alleged the cmopany failed to adequately safeguard this sensitive data.

Payactiv denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and risk of continued litigation.
