Holly aluminum manufacturing facility caused property damage. Who is eligible for a Mt. Holly emissions payout?

Class members must meet all of the following criteria:

  • They owned a single-family home as of Sept. 1, 2023.
  • Their property was/is located within the designated class area near the Mt. Holly aluminum manufacturing facility in Goose Creek, South Carolina.
  • Their ownership is verified by Berkeley County public records.

How much is the Century Aluminum payout?

Pro Rata Payment: Each eligible class member can expect to receive a monetary payment of approximately $700. This payment is based on an equal distribution of the net settlement fund among all qualifying property owners.

No claim form required

Class members do not need to file a claim or submit any paperwork to receive payment. The settlement administrator already has the necessary information from Berkeley County public records to identify eligible class members.

However, homeowners whose mailing address has changed or is expected to change should notify the settlement administrator to ensure they receive payment by contacting the administrator at the address or email provided below.

$944,000 Mt. Holly aluminum facility settlement fund

The $944,000 settlement fund covers:

  • Settlement administration costs: To be determined
  • Attorneys’ fees: Up to $236,000
  • Attorneys’ expenses: Up to $150,000.
  • Service award to class representative: $2,500
  • Payments to eligible class members: The remainder of the fund
