Current and former clients and other individuals who received a written notice from Hire Velocity stating their private information may have been compromised in a 2025 data breach could qualify to submit a claim for up to $2,000, plus credit monitoring, from a class action settlement.
Hire Velocity LLC agreed to pay to settle a class action lawsuit filed after a cybersecurity incident in February 2025. The complaint alleged Hire Velocity failed to adequately protect the personal information of certain employees, contractors and clients, including names and Social Security numbers.
Who can file a data breach claim?
Class members are individuals residing in the United states who received written notice from Hire Velocity stating the February 2025 data breach may have compromised their private information.
How much are settlement payments?
Class members have the following benefit options:
- Cash payment A – Out-of-pocket losses: Class members can claim up to $2,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses traceable to the data breach. This includes:
- Monetary losses associated with fraud or identity theft
- Professional fees, such as for attorneys, accountants or credit repair services
- Costs to freeze or unfreeze credit with any credit reporting agency
- Credit monitoring costs incurred between May 16, 2025, and Nov. 15, 2026
- Miscellaneous expenses, such as postage to contact financial institutions
- Cash payment B – Alternate cash: Class members who do not submit an out-of-pocket losses claim can submit a claim to receive a flat $40 cash payment.
- Credit monitoring: All class members can elect to receive two years of three-bureau credit monitoring. Services include comprehensive dark web monitoring, Social Security number scanning, high-risk transaction monitoring with real-time alerts, security freezes and $1 million in insurance coverage.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive a settlement payment, class members can file a claim online or print and complete the PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator.

Required proof and claim information
- To submit a claim online or by mail, class members must provide the class member ID from the settlement notice they received.
- To submit an out-of-pocket losses claim, class members must provide supporting documentation, such as receipts, bank or credit card statements, emails or other proof of identity theft or fraud related to the data breach.

Settlement fund breakdown
The settlement fund will include:
- Settlement administration costs: To be determined
- Attorneys’ fees and costs: Up to $185,000
- Service awards to class representatives: Up to $4,000 each to three representatives ($12,000 total)
- Credit monitoring: Cost determined by number of claims
- Payments to eligible claimants: Total determined by number of valid claims filed

When is the Hire Velocity data breach settlement payout date?
The settement administrator will issue payments and credit monitoring codes to approved claimants after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit claimed Hire Velocity discovered a cybersecurity incident in February 2025 that allowed unauthorized access to files containing private information. The plaintiffs alleged the company was negligent and failed to protect sensitive data, including names and Social Security numbers.
Hire Velocity denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and uncertainty of further litigation.
