Job seekers who applied for a position in Washington state with Hermanson Co. LLP, Hermanson Corp., Hermanson Group II LLC or Hermanson Management Group LLC between Jan. 1, 2023, and March 25, 2026, may be eligible to claim approximately $365.56 from a class action settlement.

Hermanson Co. LLP and its related entities agreed to pay $4.75 million to settle a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleged Hermanson’s job postings for open positions in Washington did not disclose the wage scale, salary range or a general description of benefits as required by Washington law.

Who are the class members?

Individuals are considered class membersif all of the following apply:

  • They applied for at least one job opening in Washington with Hermanson Co. LLP, Hermanson Corp., Hermanson Group II LLC or Hermanson Management Group LLC.
  • They submitted their application between Jan. 1, 2023, and March 25, 2026.
  • The job posting they responded to did not include a wage scale or salary range and/or a general description of benefits and other compensation.

The class includes all individuals meeting these criteria regardless of whether Hermanson hired them or not.

How much can class members receive?

The settlement administrator will distribute the fund equally among all qualifying class members after deducting attorneys’ fees and costs, a service award to the lead plaintiff and settlement administration expenses.The estimated payment per class member is $365.56.

No claim form required

Eligible lass members do not need to submit a claim form to receive their payment. Those who do not opt out will automatically receive their payment by mail.

Payout options

The settlement administrator will mail paper checks to the addresses on file. Class members must cash their checks within 180 days or the administrator will send the funds to the state of Washington as unclaimed property. It will donate any remaining residual funds to the Legal Foundation of Washington.

Class members who do not have a valid mailing address or who request it may receive electronic payment via PayPal or Venmo. The settlement administrator considers payments nonwage damages and will report them on IRS Form 1099.

$4.75 million settlement fund breakdown

The $4,750,000 settlement fund includes:

  • Settlement administration costs: Up to $25,000
  • Attorneys’ fees: $1,583,333.33
  • Attorneys’ expenses: $5,000
  • Service award to class representative: $25,000
  • Payments to eligible class members: Approximately $3,111,666.67 (remaining funds)

Important dates

  • Opt-out (exclusion) deadline: June 15, 2026
  • Final approval hearing: July 31, 2026

When is the Hermanson Co. settlement payout date?

The settlement administrator will mail payments approximately 52 days after court resolves any appeals and grants final approval to the settlement.

Why is there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleged Hermanson Co. LLP and its related entities allegedly failed to comply with Washington’s pay transparency law (RCW 49.58.110) by not including wage scales, salary ranges or general descriptions of benefits in job postings.

The company denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the uncertainty, risks and expense of continued litigation.
