Who is eligible for an Egyptian Health Department payout?

Class members must meet the following criteria:

  • Their personally identifiable information or personal health information was potentially accessed in the Egyptian Public and Mental Health Department data breach that occurred on or about Dec. 21, 2023.
  • They received a notification from EHD regarding the data incident.

How much is the data breach payout?

Class members can claim either the alternative cash payment or the unreimbursed losses/credit monitoring but not both.

  • Alternative Cash Payment: Class members who do not claim unreimbursed losses or credit monitoring may claim a pro rata share of the settlement fund estimated at about $100 but depending on the number of valid claims.
  • Compensation for Unreimbursed Losses and Credit Monitoring: Class members who do not claim an alternative cash payment can claim unreimbursed losses and credit monitoring.
    • Lost Time: Up to four hours at $25 per hour ($100 maximum) for time spent dealing with the data breach
    • Ordinary Out-of-Pocket Expenses: Up to $300 for documented expenses, such as bank and credit report fees, postage, gas or identity theft insurance, purchased between Dec. 21, 2023, and Aug. 19, 2025
    • Extraordinary Out-of-Pocket Expenses: Up to $5,000 for documented losses directly related to identity theft or fraud and linked to the data incident
    • Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft Protection: 24 months of free credit monitoring, including daily three-bureau monitoring, identity restoration and $1 million in identity theft insurance

How to claim an Egyptian Health Department class action rebate

To receive compensation or credit monitoring, class members must file a claim online or download, print and complete a PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Aug. 19, 2025.

When is the data breach settlement payout date?

Payments and credit monitoring codes will be distributed to class members with valid claims approximately 60 days after the court grants final approval and all claim disputes are resolved.
