Individuals who applied for a management trainee position with Enterprise Leasing Company of Florida in Florida between Jan. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2023, were age 40 or older at the time and were not hired, may be eligible to claim a share of a $1.8 million EEOC settlement.

Enterprise Leasing Company of Florida LLC has agreed to pay $1,800,000 to resolve a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleging age discrimination in hiring for management trainee positions.

Who can file a claim?

Individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • They applied for a management trainee position with Enterprise Leasing Company of Florida in Florida between Jan. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2023.
  • They were age 40 or older at the time of application.
  • They were not hired for the position.

Who is excluded from the class?

  • Applicants who were automatically disqualified by Enterprise’s electronic iCIMS system for not meeting minimum qualifications do not qualify.
  • Individuals identified by Enterprise as having a “SSO” or “Background Ck -Eligibility Issue” in its applicant data spreadsheet do not qualify.

How much are the Enterprise settlement payments?

Pro rata cash payment: Eligible applicants can submit to receive a pro rata cash payment. Final payment amount will be determined by the EEOC.

How to claim a payment

To claim a settlement payment, eligible individuals can submit a questionnaire online or complete and mail the questionnaire included with their notice to the settlement administrator.

Questionnaire's must be submitted online or postmarked no later than June 8, 2026.

Required claim information

  • Unique ID and PIN from settlement notice required to submit the questionnaire online.
  • Approved claimants will be required to complete a release of claims and a W-9, in order to receive a settlement payment.

The $1,800,000 settlement fund will include

  • Settlement administration costs: $25,000
  • Payments to approved claimants: Remaining settlement funds

Why was there an EEOC settlement?

The lawsuit alleged that Enterprise Leasing Company of Florida LLC engaged in a pattern or practice of age discrimination by failing to hire applicants age 40 and over for management trainee positions in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. Enterprise denied any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation costs.
