Individuals who lived in the United States and whose private information the February 2025 Bell Ambulance data breach potentially compromised may be eligible to claim up to $5,000 and/or credit monitoring from a class action settlement.

Bell Ambulance Inc. agreed to pay $2 million to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging it failed to adequately protect private information during a targeted cyberattack in February 2025. This incident resulted in unauthorized access to files containing sensitive data, including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, financial information, medical records, health insurance information and other protected health information.

Who can file a claim?

Class members must be living individuals residing in the United States whose private information the February 2025 Bell Ambulance data incident potentially compromised.

The settlement class includes all such individuals regardless of whether they received a direct notice from Bell Ambulance.

How much can class members get?

  • Documented losses reimbursement: Up to $5,000 for actual, documented out-of-pocket losses resulting from the data incident. Eligible expenses include losses due to identity theft or fraud, fees for credit reports or credit monitoring, costs to replace IDs and postage for contacting banks. Class members must provide documentation, such as receipts or bank statements.
  • Alternate cash payment: A one-time, flat cash payment estimated at $90. The final amount may be higher or lower depending on the number of valid claims submitted. Class members do not need to provide documentation for this option.
  • Credit monitoring: All eligible claimants may enroll in two years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which provides:
    • $1 million in medical identity theft insurance
    • Monitoring for health care insurance ID exposure
    • Monitoring for medical record number exposure
    • Monitoring for unauthorized health savings account spending
    • Access to fraud resolution agents if suspicious activity is detected

How to claim a class action settlement payment

Class members can file a claim online or download, print and complete a PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is June 29, 2026.

What proof or documentation is necessary to submit a claim?

  • To file a claim online, class members must log in with the unique ID and PIN located on the settlement notice they received.
  • To file a claim for documented losses reimbursement, class members must provide proof, such as receipts, bank statements or other documentation showing the loss relates to the data incident. Personal certifications or affidavits alone are not sufficient, but class members may include them for context.
  • To file a claim for the alternate cash payment or credit monitoring, class members need only complete the claim form and select the correct option.

$2 million settlement fund breakdown

The $2,000,000 settlement fund includes:

  • Attorneys' costs: To be determined
  • Service awards to class representatives: $2,500 to six class representatives ($15,000 total)
  • Payments to class members: The remainder of the fund

When is the Bell Ambulance settlement payout date?

The settlement administrator will distribute payments no later than 60 days after the court resolves any appeals and grants final approval of the settlement.

Why is there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleged a targeted cyberattack in February 2025 compromised sensitive private information. The plaintiffs claimed Bell Ambulance failed to adequately protect this data.

Bell Ambulance denies any wrongdoing, but both sides agreed to settle to avoid the costs, risks and uncertainty of continued litigation.
