Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged Anova violated the Song Beverly Act by requiring consumers to provide personally identifiable information when making credit card purchases on its website or app. The Song Beverly Act restricts the collection of certain information during credit card transactions.
Anova denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the risk and expense involved in continued litigation. As part of the settlement, Anova will also implement business practice changes for at least two years.
