Current or former pilots at Alaska Airlines who took military leave lasting 31-60 consecutive days at any time from Oct. 10, 2004, through March 31, 2026, and did not accrue vacation during that leave may be eligible to claim a cash payment from a class action settlement.
Alaska Airlines agreed to pay $500,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it violated federal law by not allowing pilots to accrue vacation time during certain periods of military leave but allowing it during other types of leave.
Who are the class members?
Class members are current or former pilots at Alaska Airlines who took military leave lasting between 31 and 60 consecutive days at any time from Oct. 10, 2004, through March 31, 2026, and did not accrue vacation during their leave.
Alaska Airlines’ records identified and notified 163 class members who fit these criteria.
How much are settlement payments?
Each class member will receive a pro rata share of the net settlement fund determined by the number of monthly bid periods in which a class member did not accrue vacation due to qualifying military leave as shown in Alaska Airlines’ records.
No action needed to receive compensation
Class members do not need to submit a claim form to receive compensation. The settlement administrator will automatically calculate payments for individuals identified as class members based on Alaska Airlines’ records.

Why did this class action settlement happen?
A class action lawsuit alleged Alaska Airlines violated the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by not allowing pilots to accrue vacation time during certain military leaves, while allowing accrual during other comparable forms of leave, such as jury duty.
