The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides primary care, dental, and preventive health services to patients of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay.

CJMC operates multiple locations, including a main site in Perth Amboy, a newly opened facility in Carteret, and several school-based health centers in Newark. The center offers services such as primary medical care, dental care, on-site pharmacy, and support for transportation and language needs.

What happened?

On Aug. 25, 2025, Central Jersey Medical Center was the victim of a ransomware attack that targeted its dental servers’ network. Cybercriminals, later identified as the Sinobi ransomware group, gained unauthorized access to the network and encrypted files containing sensitive patient data. The breach was later posted on the dark web on Oct. 10, 2025.
