Silver Summit Medical Corp., a Bakersfield, California-based medical group that also operates as Digestive Disease Center and Heart Vascular & Leg Center, disclosed a data breach connected to a cybersecurity incident at an unnamed third-party vendor.

The breach was reported to the California Attorney General on Aug. 19, 2026, and notification letters to affected individuals are dated the same day. The company also posted a notice of the data event on its website.

On or about July 20, 2026, Silver Summit Medical Corp. became aware of the cybersecurity event. The incident compromised personal and protected health information that the vendor had received from the medical practice.

An investigation determined that data from the vendor's systems was acquired without authorization during a four-day window between Nov. 27, 2025, and Nov. 30, 2025.

The breach exposed both personally identifiable information and protected health information.

Personally identifiable information that may have been involved includes names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account or payment card information, dates of birth, taxpayer identification numbers and passport or other government identification numbers.

Protected health information that may have been involved includes medical treatment information, prescription information, diagnosis information and health insurance policy numbers.

SSMC's response to the breach

Silver Summit Medical Corp. is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.

To enroll in the free monitoring services, affected individuals must visit the Cyberscout enrollment portal and enter the unique code included in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days of the date of the letter.

The company encouraged affected individuals to remain vigilant against identity theft and fraud by reviewing account statements, explanation of benefits statements and credit reports for any suspicious activity.

Silver Summit Medical Corp. has established a toll-free assistance line at 1-833-851-8539, available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., excluding major U.S. holidays. Affected individuals may also contact the company by mail at 1400 Easton Drive, Suite 106, Bakersfield, CA 93309.
