On July 29, 2025, S.V.D.P. Management Inc., doing business as Father Joe’s Villages, discovered a data breach. An investigation determined that an unauthorized actor gained access and possibly acquired personal data from the organization's internal network between Sept. 26, 2024, and Oct. 12, 2024.

The cybersecurity incident compromised sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) that could put affected individuals at risk of identity theft or financial fraud. A review determined that exposed data included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account information.

S.V.D.P. Management began notifying impacted individuals by mail on Aug. 29, 2025. The total number of affected people has not been released, but is believed to include thousands of employees and volunteers.

The company reported the data breach to the California, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Washington and Vermont Attorney Generals' offices between Aug. 26, 2025 and Sept. 3, 2025. Impacted individuals include 3,893 in Washington, 68 Massachusetts residents, 18 Maine residents, 11 in New Hampshire and 19 people in Rhode Island.

S.V.D.P. Management's response

Protect Your Data

A breach notice means your personal details could be circulating far beyond the organization involved. One practical step is continuous monitoring: services such as Identity Defender (included with an ExpressVPN subscription) can automatically check dark-web markets, flag new credit-file activity, and request removal of your information from data-broker sites.

This kind of “early-warning system” can’t undo a breach, but it can help you spot misuse quickly and limit further exposure. ExpressVPN is offering 61% off, risk-free for 30 days, with ID Theft Insurance included and no extra cost for those who sign up for one or two years.
