NTN Bearing Corp. of America, a major U.S. bearing manufacturer and the primary U.S. subsidiary of Japanese multinational NTN Corp., disclosed a data breach that occured on April 15, 2026.
The company is headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois, serves both original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers, and operates manufacturing plants, sales offices and research facilities.
The ransomware group Payouts King claimed responsibility for the attack. On May 13, 2026, the group posted a claim on a dark web site hosted on the Tor network.
In its posting, Payouts King claimed to have obtained 596 gigabytes of data from NTN Bearing. The group stated that it intended to publish the stolen data within five to six days of its posting.
According to the dark web posting, the compromised dataset reportedly included several categories of sensitive information. These were employees' personally identifiable information (PII), financial records, confidential business documents, internal correspondence and engineering files.
At this time, the specific types of information compromised have not been publicly confirmed.
The breach was disclosed to the Indiana Attorney General on June 22, 2026.
Affected individuals should watch for a notification letter from NTN Bearing. Breach notification letters typically include details about which types of personal information were compromised and instructions for enrolling in any protective services the company may be offering.
Given the sensitive nature of the information allegedly involved in this breach, individuals who believe they may be impacted should remain vigilant and take protective steps to secure their data.
