
Forrestall CPAs LLC, an accounting firm based in Georgia, disclosed a December 2025 data breach that has so far impacted at least 218 Massachusetts residents.
Between Dec. 22, 2025, and Dec. 30, 2025, an unauthorized individual gained access to certain of the firm's computer systems. During the window, the individual viewed and obtained files stored on the firm's network.
After discovering the incident, the firm launched an investigation. The company stated in its notification that it had recently concluded the investigation before sending notice to affected individuals.
A review of the compromised files determined that the types of information exposed varied by individual but may have included names, Social Security numbers, driver's licenses, and financial account information.
The breach was reported to attorneys general in California and Massachusetts on Aug. 17, 2026.
The firm is offering affected individuals a complimentary one-year membership to identity monitoring services through Epiq's Privacy Solutions ID program.
To enroll, affected individuals can visit www.privacysolutionsid.com, click "Activate Account" and enter the activation code included in their notification letter. Each letter includes a specific enrollment deadline, so individuals should check their letter and enroll promptly.
