
Metropolitan Marine Maintenance Contractors' Association (MMMCA), a not-for-profit trade association of marine maintenance employers in the Port of New York and New Jersey, reported a data breach affecting 25,528 people in the United States, including residents in Maine and Vermont.
MMMCA discovered the breach on April 11, 2026, and notified affected consumers by written letter on May 22, 2026.
According to the notification sent to affected individuals, the compromised data included both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) such as Social Security numbers, government-issued identification numbers, financial account codes and credit and debit account information, health records and biometric information.
MMMCA is offering affected individuals 12 months of free credit monitoring and identity protection through Experian IdentityWorks, according to the notification letter. The service includes daily credit reports for online members, active monitoring of the enrollee's Experian credit file, identity restoration assistance and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.
To enroll, affected individuals should visit the Experian IdentityWorks enrollment page and enter the activation code included in their written notification. The enrollment deadline is Sept. 30, 2026. Those who need assistance or prefer to enroll by phone can call Experian's customer care team at 833-931-7577.
