Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP (Fried Frank), an international law firm, recently experienced a data breach that impacted tens of thousands of individuals across the United States.

On Oct. 27, 2025, the firm discovered that a single user account had been compromised by an unauthorized third party. This attacker was able to access and copy files from a shared network drive, exposing sensitive information belonging to clients and third parties.

The breach was reported to the attorneys general offices of California, Maine, New Hampshire, Texas, and the Washington, as well as the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.

According to official filings, a total of 46,602 individuals in the United States were affected, including 3,523 residents in Texas, 1,391 in Massachusetts, 715 in Washington, 143 in New Hamoshire, and 72 in Maine.

The company has notified affected individuals by written mail and email.

The types of information exposed in this incident included personally identifiable information such as Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government-issues IDs, passport numbers, names, addresses, and financial account details.

Fried Frank's response

In response to the breach, Fried Frank contained the incident and blocked further unauthorized access. The firm engaged outside cybersecurity experts to investigate the situation and notified law enforcement authorities.

Fried Frank is offering two years of complimentary credit and identity monitoring services through Equifax to all affected individuals. These services include fraud consultation, identity theft restoration and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance coverage.

Those impacted are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the free credit monitoring and remain vigilant by reviewing online and financial accounts for any suspicious activity. If any unusual activity is detected, individuals should immediately change account passwords and security questions and notify the relevant financial institution.

Additional recommendations include placing a fraud alert or security freeze on credit files and obtaining free annual credit reports from the major credit bureaus.

Fried Frank has set up a dedicated call center at 1-855-815-4018, available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST, to answer questions and assist with enrollment in identity monitoring services.
