David A. Nover M.D., P.C., a private psychiatric and psychotherapy practice based in Pennsylvania, recently experienced a data breach. On or about June 3, 2025, the practice detected unusual activity within its internal network. An investigation determined that an unauthorized actor gained accessed and may have viewed and copied files containing sensitive personal information.

A review took place and was completed on Oct. 29, 2025. The cybersecurity incident compromised both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). David A. Nover M.D., P.C. began notifying affected individuals by mail on Nov. 3, 2025 and published a Notice of Data Event on its website.

Exposed information included names, dates of birth, Social Security Numbers, payment cards, payment card expiration dates, payment card access information, medical record numbers, patient IDs or account numbers, Medicare numbers, health insurance ID numbers, health insurance group numbers, medical diagnosis information, medical treatment information, medical treatment locations, doctor names, medical treatment dates, medical lab or test results.

The medical practice disclosed the data breach to the Vermont Attorney General's office on Nov. 4, 2025. The total number of affected individuals has not been released, but may include current and former patients and employees.

The impact of the cyberattack is heightened by the amount of sensitive data exposed. Affected individuals are at risk not only for identity theft but both medical and financial fraud.

David A. Nover M.D., P.C.'s response

After discovering the breach, the practice retained cybersecurity experts to investigation and remediate the incident. In addition to required state and federal disclosures, David A. Nover M.D., P.C is providing impacted individuals 12 free months of TransUnion Cyberscout single-bureau credit monitoring and identity protection services.
