Consumers who purchased a mattress from tuftandneedle.com while located in California between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2024, may be eligible to submit a claim to receive approximately $75 per mattress from a class action settlement. Settlement class members allegedly purchased more than 40,000 falsely discounted mattresses during this period.

Tuft & Needle LLC agreed to pay more than $2.99 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the company deceptively advertised discounts on the mattress products it sold through its website. The plaintiff claimed these fake sales violated California consumer protection laws.

Who can file a claim for a false discount settlement payout?

Class members must meet the following criteria:

  • They purchased one or more mattresses Tuft & Needle advertised at a discount on tuftandneedle.com.
  • They made the purchase while physically located in California.
  • The made the purchase between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2024.

How much are settlement payments?

  • Cash payment or website credit: Class members can receive a cash payment or website credit equal to 45% of the discount Tuft & Needle represented they would receive on each mattress they purchased on tuftandneedle.com during the qualifying period. The settlement administrator estimates the average payment or credit at $75 per mattress purchase.
    • Website credits are transferable and valid for three years after the settlement final approval date.

How to claim a class action rebate

To receive a settlement payment, class members can file a claim online or print the PDF claim form to complete and mail to the settlement administrator.

When is the Tuft & Needle settlement payout date?

Tuft & Needle will issue website credits to eligible class members approximately 44 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement. The settlement administrator will issue cash payments to approved claimants approximately 58 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.

Why is there a class action settlement?

This class action lawsuit claimed Tuft & Needle LLC deceptively advertised discounts on its website, allegedly violating California consumer protection laws and related claims for breach of contract, express warranty and misrepresentation.

The company denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the risk and expense of continued litigation and a possible trial.
