Employees who worked for SkinSpirit Essential LLC in California as a nonexempt employee between Oct. 9, 2020, and March 1, 2026, may be eligible to claim a payment from a class action settlement.
SkinSpirit Essential LLC agreed to pay $490,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging violations of California labor laws, including claims related to unpaid wages, missed meal and rest breaks, inaccurate wage statements, unreimbursed business expenses and other employment-related issues.
Who are the class members?
Class members must meet the following criteria:
- SkinSpirit Essential LLC employed them in California.
- SkinSpirit Essential LLC classified them as a nonexempt employee.
- They worked for SkinSpirit Essential LLC at any time between Oct. 9, 2020, and March 1, 2026.
The settlement includes two main groups:
- Class members: All nonexempt employees who worked during the class period
- Aggrieved employees: Nonexempt employees who worked during the Private Attorneys General Act period defined as June 6, 2023, through April 15, 2026
Some individuals may qualify under both categories if they worked during both periods.
The settlement administrator will use SkinSpirit’s employment records to determine eligibility and calculate payments. Those who believe they should be included in the settlement but did not receive a notice should contact the settlement administrator.
How much can class members receive?
The total settlement fund is $490,000. After court-approved deductions for attorneys’ fees, litigation expenses, administration costs, service awards and penalties to the state, the settlement administrator will distribute the remaining fund (approximately approximately $313,750) to eligible class members and aggrieved employees.
How will the settlement administrator calculate payments?
- Individual class payments: Calculated based on the number of workweeks a class member worked during the class period
- Formula: Net settlement amount / total workweeks of all participating class members = value per workweek
- Class member payment: Value per workweek × number of workweeks the class member worked
- Individual PAGA payments: Calculated based on the number of pay periods worked during the PAGA period
- Formula: $11,750 (25% of PAGA penalties) / total PAGA pay periods of all aggrieved employees = value per pay period
- Class member payment: Value per pay period × number of PAGA pay periods the class member worked
No action needed to receive payment
Class members do not need to submit a claim form to receive their payment. The settlement administrator will automatically mail checks to eligible class members and aggrieved employees based on SkinSpirit’s employment records.
Those whose address has changed or who believe they are eligible for the settlement but did not receive a notice should contact the settlement administrator as soon as possible.

Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged SkinSpirit Essential LLC violated California labor laws in several ways, including by failing to:
- Provide required rest and meal breaks and pay related premiums
- Pay minimum, overtime and contractual wages
- Issue accurate wage statements
- Pay all wages due at separation
- Reimburse necessary business expenses
- Provide employment records
SkinSpirit denies all allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the risks, distractions and costs of continued litigation.
