Why was there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleged that Rheem Manufacturing Co. and Melet Plastics Inc. were responsible for damages related to their round poly drain valves, which were sold independently and as part of water heaters between 2019 and 2023. The plaintiffs claimed these valves were defective and caused property damage or other losses.
