Job seekers whose potential employer used PeopleFacts to obtain a background check on them may qualify to claim approximately $85 from a class action settlement.

Pluto Acquisition OPCO LLC, doing business as PeopleFacts, agreed to pay $2.4 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging PeopleFacts violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by failing to provide timely notice to consumers when reporting negative public record information that could adversely affect their ability to obtain employment.

How much is the settlement payout?

Each eligible class member is expected to receive an estimated payment of approximately $85. This amount depends on the total number of class members and deductions for attorneys’ fees, litigation costs and the service award for the class representative.

No claim form necessary

Class members do not need to file a claim to receive their payment.

  • Settlement administration costs: $50,000 plus any additional costs
