Oak View Group $824,000 Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Current and former employees who received notice that the November 2023 Oak View Group data breach compromised their personal information may qualify to submit a claim for up to $5,000 plus credit monitoring from a class action settlement. The cybersecurity incident impacted 60,672 people.

Oak View Group LLC agreed to pay $824,000 to settle a class action lawsuit claiming a targeted cyberattack exposed sensitive personal information. The plaintiff alleged the breach compromised files containing names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, demographic data and government-issued identification information.

Who can file a claim for a data breach payout?

How much are settlement payments?

Class members have the following benefit options:

  • Reimbursement for out-of-pocket losses: Class members can claim up to $5,000 for documented financial losses that occurred due to the data breach. This includes monetary losses from identity theft or fraud, fees for credit reports or monitoring, costs to replace IDs and postage for contacting financial institutions.
  • Pro rata cash payment: Class members who do not submit an out-of-pocket losses claim can submit a claim to receive a one-time cash payment. Estimated amounts are $150 for California residents and $50 for residents of all other states. The settlement administrator will determine the final payment amount by the total number of claims filed.
  • Credit monitoring: All class members can elect to receive two years of CyEx Identity Defense Complete, which includes $1 million in identity theft insurance, real-time credit file monitoring, dark web scanning and public records monitoring.

Why did this class action settlement happen?

This class action settlement claimed Oak View Group LLC failed to adequately protect personal information during a targeted cyberattack in November 2023. The plaintiffs alleged the breach exposed sensitive data, potentially putting impacted individuals at risk of identity theft and fraud.

Oak View Group denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and risk of continued litigation.
