Why did this class action settlement happen?

The class action lawsuit alleged Natera Inc. marketed its noninvasive Panorama and Vasistera prenatal screening tests as reliable and accurate for detecting certain genetic disorders. The plaintiffs claimed the tests did not reliably detect some rare disorders and that Natera omitted material information about the tests' reliability and accuracy from its marketing materials and website in violation of implied warranty and consumer protection laws.

Natera denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the risk and expense of continued litigation.
