Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged that Resident Home LLC engaged in false or deceptive advertising by displaying discounts from higher reference prices on its e-commerce websites. The plaintiff claimed this violated California consumer protection laws, including the Unfair Competition Law and the Consumer Legal Remedies Act.
Resident Home and its e-commerce websites denied any wrongdoing, however agreed to settle to avoid the risk and expense of continued litigation.
