Current or former employees of NLP LLC or NALS Apartment Homes LLC whose personal information a cybersecurity incident in December 2023 potentially compromised may be eligible to claim up to $2,000 plus additional benefits from a class action settlement.

NLP LLC and NALS Apartment Homes LLC agreed to pay $435,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging they failed to implement or follow reasonable data security procedures, resulting in a data breach that exposed employees' personal information.

Who can file a claim?

Individuals are eligible to file a claim if they meet all of the following criteria:

  • They are a current or former employee of NLP LLC or NALS Apartment Homes LLC.
  • They reside in the United States.
  • The cybersecurity incident identified on or about Dec. 2, 2023, impacted their personal information.

If an individual received a notice about this settlement, they are likely included as a class member. Those who did not receive a notice but believe they meet the criteria may still submit a claim.

How much can class members receive?

The settlement provides for three main categories of benefits:

  • Out-of-pocket losses: Up to $2,000 per claimant for documented, unreimbursed monetary losses related to the cybersecurity incident. Examples of out-of-pocket losses include bank fees, postage, copying, mileage, telephone charges, notary charges and costs for purchasing credit monitoring or identity theft insurance services between Dec. 2, 2023, and April 3, 2026. The class member must support these losses with documentation, such as credit card statements, invoices, receipts or telephone records.
  • Cash compensation: Estimated at $50
  • Credit monitoring services: 24 months (two years) of free credit monitoring through one of the national credit reporting bureaus. This benefit is available to any class member who requests it on the claim form.

If the total amount of approved claims for out-of-pocket losses, credit monitoring and cash compensation exceeds the available settlement fund after costs, the settlement administrator will reduce cash awards and out-of-pocket loss reimbursements proportionally. Conversely, if the total amount of approved claims is less than the available funds, the administrator will increase the cash compensation on a pro rata basis for each approved claimant.

How to claim a settlement payment

Class members can file a claim online using the online claim form or download and print a PDF claim form, complete it and mail it to the settlement administrator.

What proof or documentation is necessary to submit a claim?

  • To file an online claim, class members must provide the notice ID and confirmation code from the settlement notice they received.
  • To file an out-of-pocket losses claim, class members must submit documentation, such as receipts, invoices or statements, showing the loss and proof a third party did not reimburse it.
  • To file a claim for credit monitoring or cash compensation, no documentation is required.

Why is there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleged NLP LLC and NALS Apartment Homes LLC failed to implement or follow reasonable data security procedures, resulting in a cybersecurity incident in December 2023 that potentially exposed the personal information of current and former employees.
