Consumers whose personal information may have been compromised in the March 2024 data breach involving International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 1 may qualify receive a pro rata cash payment from a class action settlement.

IBEW Local No. 1 agreed to pay $315,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a targeted cyberattack on its computer systems between March 31 and April 5, 2024, potentially compromised personal information, such as names and Social Security numbers.

Who can file an IBEW claim?

Class members must meet all of the following criteria:

  • They resided in the United States between March 31 and April 5, 2024.
  • Their personally identifiable information may have been compromised in the March 2024 IBEW data incident.
  • They received notice of the data incident from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 1.

How much can class members get?

  • Compensation for documented, unreimbursed monetary losses: Up to $10,000. Eligible expenses include:
    • Losses relating to fraud or identity theft
    • Professional fees, such as attorneys’ or accountants’ fees
    • Fees for credit repair services
    • Costs associated with freezing or unfreezing credit with any credit reporting agency
    • Credit monitoring costs incurred on or after March 31, 2024, through the date of claim submission
    • Miscellaneous expenses, such as notary, postage and mileage
  • Pro rata cash payment: All class members may submit a claim for a pro rata cash payment divided equally among all approved pro rata cash payment claimants. Class counsel estimates these payments will be more than $50 per valid claim, but the final amount will depend on the number of approved claims and the total funds remaining.
  • Credit monitoring services: All class members are eligible to receive two years of credit monitoring from all three major credit bureaus. This benefit is available even for those who do not claim reimbursement for losses or a pro rata cash payment.

How to claim a data breach payment

Class members can file a claim online or download, print, complete and mail or email the PDF claim form to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Oct. 6, 2025.
