Inotiv Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Individuals who received a notice from Inotiv stating their private information was compromised in the August 2025 data breach, may qualify to submit a claim for up to $4,000 from a class action settlement.

Inotiv Inc. has agreed to pay to settle a class action lawsuit regarding a cyberattack that occurred in August 2025. The complaint alleges that the company failed to adequately protect sensitive personal information, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth and financial data.

Who can file a data breach claim?

Class members are individuals in the United States who were sent notice by Inotiv informing them that their private information was compromised in the August 2025 data breach.

How much are settlement payments?

Class members have the following benefit options:

• Ordinary losses (out-of-pocket expenses): Class members can claim up to $500 for documented out-of-pocket expenses that occurred between Aug. 5, 2025, and Sept. 10, 2026, due to the data breach. Eligible expenses include fees for credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing or unfreezing credit, costs to replace IDs and postage to contact financial institutions.
• Extraordinary losses (identity theft or fraud): Class members can claim up to $4,000 for documented extraordinary losses due to identity theft or fraud that occurred between Aug. 5, 2025, and Sept. 10, 2026. Claimants must show that losses were more than likely caused by the data breach and they they attempted to recover them through other means, such as insurance.
• Lost time: Class members can claim up to four hours at $20 per hour, for time spent dealing with the data breach, a maximum of $80. This includes changing passwords, investigating suspicious account activity and researching the data breach.
• Alternative cash payment: Class members that do not submit a claim for ordinary losses, extraordinary losses or lost time can submit to receive a one-time $45 cash payment.
• Identity theft protection services: All class members can elect to receive two free years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which includes $1 million in medical identity theft insurance and monitoring for healthcare insurance ID exposure, medical record number exposure and unauthorized health savings account spending.

How to claim a class action rebate

To claim a settlement payment, class members can file a claim online, or print and complete the PDF claim form, and mail it to the settlement administrator.

The claim deadline is Dec. 2, 2026.

Required proof and claim information

• To submit a claim online, class members must provide the LoginID and PIN from the settlement notice they received.
• Ordinary losses and extraordinary losses claims require supporting documentation. This may include such receipts, invoices, bank or credit card statements or other proof of identity theft or fraud caused by the data breach.
• Lost time claims require a description of how time was spent dealing with the data breach.

Settlement fund breakdown

• Payments to claimants: Total determined by the number of valid claims filed

When is the Inotiv data breach settlement payout date?

Payments will be issued to approved claimants within 60 days of the final approval date or within 30 days of the claim approval date, whichever is later.

Why was there a class action settlement?

This class action lawsuit was filed because a cyberattack on Inotiv Inc.’s computer systems in August 2025 may have resulted in the compromise of files containing private information. The plaintiffs alleged that Inotiv failed to adequately protect their data.

Inotiv denies the allegations, however agreed to settle to avoid the costs and uncertainty of further litigation.
