Inotiv Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Individuals who received a notice from Inotiv stating the August 2025 data breach compromised their private information may qualify to submit a claim for up to $4,580 from a class action settlement.

Inotiv Inc. agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a cyberattack affected Inotiv's systems in August 2025. The complaint claims the company failed to adequately protect sensitive personal information, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth and financial data.

Who can file a data breach claim?

Class members are individuals in the United States who received a notice from Inotiv informing them the August 2025 data breach compromised their private information.

How much are settlement payments?

Class members have the following benefit options:

• Ordinary losses (out-of-pocket expenses): Class members can claim up to $500 for documented out-of-pocket expenses that occurred between Aug. 5, 2025, and Sept. 10, 2026, due to the data breach. Eligible expenses include fees for credit reports, credit monitoring or freezing or unfreezing credit, costs to replace IDs and postage to contact financial institutions.
• Extraordinary losses (identity theft or fraud): Class members can claim up to $4,000 for documented extraordinary losses due to identity theft or fraud that occurred between Aug. 5, 2025, and Sept. 10, 2026. Claimants must show the data breach most likely caused the losses and that they attempted to recover them through other means, such as insurance.
• Lost time: Class members can claim up to four hours of lost time at $20 per hour for time spent dealing with the data breach ($80 maximum). This includes time spent changing passwords, investigating suspicious account activity and researching the data breach.
• Alternative cash payment: Class members who do not submit a claim for ordinary losses, extraordinary losses or lost time can submit a claim to receive a one-time $45 cash payment.
• Identity theft protection services: All class members can elect to receive two free years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which includes $1 million in medical identity theft insurance and monitoring for health care insurance ID exposure, medical record number exposure and unauthorized health savings account spending.

How to claim a class action rebate

To claim a settlement payment, class members can file a claim online or print and complete the PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator.

Required proof and claim information

• Onine claims require the LoginID and PIN from the settlement notice they received.
• Ordinary losses and extraordinary losses claims require supporting documentation. This may include such receipts, invoices, bank or credit card statements, or other proof of identity theft or fraud caused by the data breach.
• Lost time claims require a description of how the claimant spent the time dealing with the data breach.

Settlement fund breakdown

The settlement fund will include:

• Payments to approved claimants: Total determined by the number of valid claims filed

When is the Inotiv data breach settlement payout date?

The settlement administrator will issue payments to approved claimants within 60 days of the final approval date or within 30 days of the claim approval date, whichever is later.

Why is there a class action settlement?

This class action lawsuit claimed a cyberattack on Inotiv Inc.’s computer systems in August 2025 may have resulted in the compromise of files containing private information. The plaintiffs alleged Inotiv failed to adequately protect their data.

Inotiv denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the costs and uncertainty of further litigation.
