
If you received a notice that your private information may have been exposed in the GardaWorld Cash data incident between October 30, 2023, and November 16, 2023, you may be eligible to submit a claim for up to $15,000 from a class action settlement.
Garda CL Southeast, Inc., Garda CL Great Lakes, Inc., Garda CL Central, Inc., Garda CL Southwest, Inc., and Gardaworld Cash Services, Inc. (collectively, GardaWorld Cash) have agreed to pay $1,500,000 to settle a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleged that GardaWorld Cash failed to adequately protect employee and former employee private information during a cybersecurity incident.
Who is eligible for a data breach payout?
You are a class member if:
- You reside in the United States and received, or GardaWorld Cash attempted to send you, a notice that your personal information may have been compromised in a data incident.
- The initial notice was sent around March 22, 2024.
How much is the class action settlement payment?
Class members can claim one of two cash payment options, and credit monitoring services:
- Cash Payment A, Documented Losses: Class members can submit for up to $15,000 of to documented out-of-pocket expenses or monetary losses traceable to the data breach.
- Cash Payment B, Flat Payment: Class members that do not submit for Cash Payment A can submit for a flat cash payment estimated at $150.
- Credit Monitoring: All class members can submit to receive three years of three-bureau credit monitoring.
How to claim a data breach class action rebate
To receive a settlement payment or credit monitoring, class members must submit a claim form by the deadline of August 26, 2025.
You can submit a claim one of two ways:

Required proof and information
- Class Member ID from notice required to submit a claim online or by mail.
- Cash Payment A, Documented Losses claims require supporting documentation:
- Credit card or bank statements,
- Invoices or proof of payment for services such as credit freezing, CPA or attorney fees
- Police report
- Other proof of unreimbursed charges due to fraud or identity theft that occurred due to the data incident
Claim payout options
Class members have these options:
- Electronic payment
- Paper check mailed to the address provided
$1.5 Million data breach settlement fund
The $1,500,000 settlement fund breakdown is as follows:
- Attorneys' fees: Up to $500,000
- Attorneys' costs and expenses: To be determined
- Settlement administration costs: To be determined, at least $10,000
- Service awards to class representatives: To be presented to the court for approval at a later date
- Payments to approved claimants: Remaining settlement funds

When is the GardaWorld data breach settlement payout date?
Settlement payments will be issued to claimants after the court grants final approval of the settlement and all claim processing is complete. The court has scheduled the final approval hearing for September 10, 2025.
Why was there a class action lawsuit and settlement?
The class action lawsuit was filed after a data breach that took place between October 30, 2023, and November 16, 2023, in which private information of employees and former employees may have been accessed by a cybercriminal. Plaintiffs alleged that GardaWorld Cash failed to adequately protect this information.
GardaWorld Cash denies any wrongdoing, stating that it complied with the law and took swift action to address the incident. The parties have agreed to settle to avoid the the expense of continued litigation and the possibility of a trial.
