
Individuals who paid a convenience fee to purchase movie tickets through Fandango at a California theater between June 11, 2020, and June 17, 2024, or California or Washington consumers who purchased a Fandango FanClub membership between Oct. 7, 2024, and April 16, 2025, may claim $3.25-$7.50 from a class action settlement.
Fandango Media LLC agreed to pay $9.4 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the company failed to timely disclose mandatory online convenience fees for California movie ticket purchases and violated laws regarding California and Washington FanClub membership credits and promo codes.
Who can file a claim for a Fandango payout?
The settlement includes two certified classes:
- Convenience fee settlement class: All individuals who are not subject to binding arbitration and who paid a convenience fee to purchase tickets through Fandango for California theaters between June 11, 2020, and June 17, 2024
- FanClub settlement class: All California and Washington consumers who purchased a Fandango FanClub membership between Oct. 7, 2024, and April 16, 2025
How much are settlement payments?
Class members can receive one or both of the following benefits:
- Convenience fee settlement class: Class members can submit a claim to receive a $3.25 cash payment. Those who do not submit a claim will receive a voucher in the amount of $3.25 for use on Fandango.com or the Fandango app. The voucher will expire three years after issue date.
- FanClub settlement class members: All class members will receive a voucher in the amount of $7.50 for use on Fandango.com or the Fandango app. The voucher will not expire.
How to claim a class action rebate
To claim a settlement payment, convenience fee class members can submit a claim online or print a PDF claim form.pdf) to complete and mail to the settlement administrator.

Convenience fee class members who do not submit a claim will automatically receive a voucher. FanClub class members do not need to file a claim to receive a voucher.
Required claim information
All class members must provide the unique ID from the settlement notice they received. Online claimants must also provide the PIN from the same notice.
Class members can look up their unique ID online using their email address.

Settlement fund
The $9,400,000 settlement fund will include:
- Settlement administration costs: Estimated at $250,000
- Attorneys' fees and expenses: Up to $2,500,000
- Service awards to class representatives: Up to $5,000 each
- Payments and vouchers to class members: Remaining settlement funds

When is the Fandango Media settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will issue payments and vouchers approximately 75 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged Fandango Media LLC failed to timely disclose mandatory convenience fees for online movie ticket purchases to California theaters and violated laws regarding FanClub memberships by offering credits or promo codes that expired after 30 days.
Fandango denied the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the risk and expense of continued litigation.
