Carle Foundation Hospital $10.45M Employment Settlement

Employees who worked hourly for The Carle Foundation Hospital between May 25, 2013, and Jan. 25, 2025, may qualify to claim a cash payment from a class action settlement.

The Carle Foundation Hospital agreed to pay $10.45 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging violations of federal and state wage laws. The lawsuit claimed the hospital’s timekeeping system unlawfully rounded hourly employees’ clock-in and clock-out times, resulting in underpayment.

Who can file a Carle Foundation Hospital claim?

Class members are eligible to participate in this settlement if they:

• Worked for The Carle Foundation Hospital as an hourly employee.
• Were employed at any time between May 25, 2013, and Jan. 25, 2025.

How much can each class member receive?

Eligibility is determined by the hospital’s employment records. The number of workweeks each class member worked during the above timeframe will be used to calculate their potential settlement payment. The payment formula is:

• Number of eligible workweeks x $1.93691058 = Approximate settlement payment

Class members whose calculated payment is less than $30 will receive a minimum payment of $30.

How to claim a settlement payment

Class members can file an online claim form or download, print and complete the PDF claim form to mail or email to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Aug. 29, 2025.

Is proof/documentation required to submit a claim?

All class members must provide:

• The Carle entity that employed them
• The dates they worked
• The locations they worked
• The positions they held

To file an online claim, class members must provide their claim number and PIN, which are located on the claim form they received in the mail.

Payout options

Settlement payments will be mailed as paper checks.

$10.45 million settlement fund

The $10,450,000 settlement fund includes:

• Attorneys’ fees: Up to $5,333,333.33
• Attorneys’ expenses: Up to $55,000
• Service award to named plaintiff: $15,000
• Service awards to class representatives: $1,500 each for one plaintiff and $2,500 each for eight plaintiffs ($21,500 total)
• Payments to class members: The remainder of the fund

• Fairness hearing: Sept. 19, 2025

When is the Carle Foundation Hospital settlement payout date?

Settlement payments will be mailed to eligible class members approximately 40 days after the court grants final approval at the fairness hearing and any appeals are resolved.
