What Happened?
Tyree Oil experienced a ransomware attack by the group known as PLAY, who claimed responsibility and threatened to publish stolen data on July 10, 2025. The ransomware group claimed to have accessed confidential data, client documents, payroll, accounting, tax information, IDs and other financial data.
The incident was reported to the Massachusetts Attorney General on March 7, 2026. According to Tyree Oil’s notice, the breach may have exposed sensitive personal information belonging to customers and employees.

- Financial account number with routing number
- Payment card number with expiration date and CVV
