What happened?

In July 2024, Odessa College experienced a data breach that potentially exposed the personal information of thousands of individuals when the ransomware gourp, FOG, posted the breach on the dark web. The breach was disclosed to the Texas Attorney General's office, revealing that 3,521 people in Texas were affected.

The types of consumer information exposed in the breach include:

  • Social Security Number Information
  • Driver’s License number
  • Government-issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID card)
  • Financial Information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Medical Information
  • Health Insurance Information
