The organization maintains a national registry that records training completions and credentials for individuals in the construction field. Their programs are widely used by high school career and technical education programs, community colleges and industry training centers across the United States.

What Happened?

On March 21, 2025, NCCER discovered unauthorized activity on its network.

The organization took its systems offline and began an investigation with the help of cybersecurity experts. It was determined that a cybercriminal group called Quilin was responsible for the incident, which involved files being exfiltrated from NCCER’s network.

A thorough review of the affected data was completed by April 12, 2026.

Information Exposed:

  • First and last names
  • Social Security numbers

NCCER notified affected individuals on a rolling basis, with written notices sent to Maine residents on May 1, 2026, May 15, 2026, and May 21, 2026.

In total, 15,193 people in the United States were affected, including 25 residents in Maine.
