About MasTec

MasTec Inc. is a major American infrastructure engineering and construction company based in Coral Gables, Florida.

The company is known for its work in energy, utility and communications infrastructure, including power generation, oil and gas pipelines, telecom systems, electric power delivery and renewable energy projects.

What Happened?

In early October 2025, MasTec detected suspicious activity in a small part of its computer network.

The company engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate and address the situation. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized party had accessed a portion of MasTec’s network for a few days in August 2025.

After identifying which files were impacted, MasTec hired a data review firm to analyze the contents of those files. The review was completed in early February 2026, and MasTec began notifying affected individuals on May 11, 2026.

The breach affected a total of 25,220 people in the United States, including 11 in Maine and 1,160 in South Carolina.

The ransomware group CL0P claimed responsibility for the attack on the dark web on Oct. 29, 2025.

At this time, the specific types of information exposed have not been publicly disclosed by MasTec but may include names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial information and more.
