What Happened?
On Feb. 8, 2026, Hospital Caribbean Medical Center announced it had detected and contained a cyberattack affecting a portion of its information systems. The incident was identified by the hospital’s internal monitoring systems, allowing for prompt containment and isolation with the help of external cybersecurity experts. The hospital reported the breach to the appropriate authorities and began working with specialists to assess the scope of the incident.
According to a report filed with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on April 6, 2026, the breach impacted approximately 92,000 individuals in the United States. The ransomware group known as The Gentlemen claimed responsibility for the attack and threatened to publish stolen data on the dark web within nine to ten days of Feb. 17, 2026.
