Wheels Up Partners LLC, a leading private aviation company, recently experienced a significant data breach. The cybersecurity incident exposed personally identifiable information (PII) of at least 5,710 current and former customers, including 10 in Maine.

The breach was discovered on Nov. 3, 2025, after an unauthorized actor gained access to the company’s information technology systems. The incident was traced back to Oct. 20, 2025, when the attacker accessed and copied certain files from Wheels Up’s systems.

A thorough investigation, supported by third-party cybersecurity specialists, revealed that the exposed files contained personally identifiable information, specifically names and Social Security numbers. The company completed its review of the affected files by Nov. 3, 2025, and began confirming contact information for those impacted.

The breach is considered severe due to the sensitive nature of the information accessed and the fact that the attacker was able to copy files undetected for several days. The company has not indicated who was responsible for the breach, but the method involved unauthorized access and data exfiltration from internal systems.

On Dec. 9, 2025, the company mailed notices to impacted individuals and disclosed the breach to the Maine Attorney General's office.
