Victron Energy, Inc., a leader in electrical and electronic manufacturing, experienced a data breach. The breach was the result of a ransomware attack carried out by the group known as Abyss. The attackers claimed to have obtained 2.3 terabytes of uncompressed data from Victron Energy, Inc. and threatened to publish access to the data.
Compromised data includes both personal and protected health information. The data breach was disclosed to the Texas Attorney General's office on Aug. 5, 2025. The total number of impacted individuals has not been released, but includes at least 1,457 Texas residents.
Exposed information includes names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, state ID numbers, passport numbers, credit or debit card numbers, dates of birth, financial account numbers medical information and health insurance information. This type of data breach is severe, as ransomware attacks increase the risk of identity theft and fraud for affected individuals.
In addition to required state and federal disclosures, Victron Energy will notify affected individuals.
If you believe your personal and protected health information may have been compromised in this breach:

A breach notice means your personal details could be circulating far beyond the organization involved. One practical step is continuous monitoring: services such as Identity Defender (included with an ExpressVPN subscription) can automatically check dark-web markets, flag new credit-file activity, and request removal of your information from data-broker sites.
This kind of “early-warning system” can’t undo a breach, but it can help you spot misuse quickly and limit further exposure. ExpressVPN is offering 61% off, risk-free for 30 days, with ID Theft Insurance included and no extra cost for those who sign up for one or two years.
