Hudson River Partners I L.P., known as The Thayer Hotel, which operates the historic Thayer Hotel at West Point, recently experienced a data breach affecting tens of thousands of individuals across the United States.
On Sept. 19, 2025, the company discovered unauthorized access to its computer systems, resulting in the exposure of sensitive personal information. The breach was severe, impacting a total of 33,053 people nationwide, including 1,048 in Massachusetts, at least 500 in California, and 86 in Maine, as disclosed in filings with each state's attorneys general office.
The breach involved the exposure of personally identifiable information, including names, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, state identification card numbers and, for a very small number of individuals, Social Security numbers.
The incident was first detected when the company lost access to its systems, prompting immediate recovery efforts and notification to law enforcement. The entire IT staff was engaged for several days to restore access and secure the systems. Third-party forensic specialists and cybersecurity professionals were brought in to investigate the nature and scope of the breach, which required analyzing large volumes of data to identify affected individuals and the types of information compromised.
The investigation concluded on Oct. 17, 2025, for U.S. residents, and the company began notifying regulators and consumers on Nov. 3, 2025.
To support those affected, the company is offering complimentary 12-month credit monitoring and identity protection services through Kroll Security. Individuals can enroll for these services at the dedicated website provided in the consumer notice. The company also encourages affected individuals to remain vigilant by placing fraud alerts and security freezes on their credit files and by monitoring their credit reports for suspicious activity.
For further assistance, affected individuals can contact the dedicated assistance line at 866-291-7123, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Central time. Additional information and resources are available in the official notice to consumers, which is included in PDF format at the bottom of this page.
