The Financial Guys LLC and its affiliates, a financial services firm based in Williamsville, New York, disclosed a data breach that was discovered in July 2026 and involved one of its strategic partners.
The company reported the breach to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.
On July 9, 2026, The Financial Guys identified suspicious activity affecting a portion of a vendor's computer network. An investigation determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to a single system within the network and that certain files and information stored on the affected system may have been accessed.
After discovering the incident, The Financial Guys took steps to contain the activity by isolating the affected system, disabling remote access, changing passwords, taking systems offline, rotating user credentials and employing advanced security and detection software. The company also engaged cybersecurity and privacy professionals to assist with the investigation and response.
The types of information that may have been exposed include names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, account numbers, credit or debit card numbers and other financial information.
The Financial Guys is offering affected individuals free identity monitoring services through Kroll, described in the notification as a global leader in risk mitigation and response.
Affected individuals can activate these services by visiting Kroll's enrollment page and entering the membership number included in their notification letter. Additional details about the monitoring services are available at Kroll's information page. The enrollment deadline is listed in each individual's notification letter.
Because this breach potentially involved Social Security numbers, financial account details and credit or debit card numbers, affected individuals should consider acting quickly to protect their credit and financial accounts.
