On Sept. 2, 2024, the practice became aware of unauthorized access to certain computer systems within the practice that contained patients' personal information. The breach involved records belonging to both current and former patients of the dental practice.
Upon discovering the unauthorized access, the practice took steps to secure the affected systems. The practice also brought in independent cybersecurity and forensic experts to investigate the incident and determine its full scope.
The types of information that may have been exposed vary from person to person but included names, addresses, email addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license or state identification numbers, financial account or payment card information, medical information, health insurance information and other personal information maintained by the practice.
The practice encouraged affected individuals to remain vigilant, recommending that people carefully review their financial accounts, insurance statements and medical records for any signs of suspicious or unauthorized activity. The practice also urged individuals to report any such activity to their financial institution, healthcare provider, law enforcement and the practice's office.
