
Male or nonbinary people who paid for a membership or day pass to Vertical Hold rock climbing gym and did not attend any women’s or ladies’ clinics, classes or events between 2017 and 2020 may be eligible to claim four day passes from a class action settlement.
Reactor Inc., d/b/a Vertical Hold rock climbing gym, agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging discriminatory practices related to pricing and event access. The lawsuit claimed the gym provided free or discounted admission to females for certain events while denying or excluding males and nonbinary individuals from those opportunities.
Who can file a claim?
Class members must meet all of the following criteria:
- They are a male or nonbinary person.
- They paid for a membership and/or day pass to Vertical Hold rock climbing gym.
- They did not attend any of Vertical Hold’s women’s or ladies’ clinics, classes or events.
- The payment and nonattendance occurred at any time between Jan. 1, 2017, and Dec. 31, 2020.
How much is the Vertical Hold payout?
Each eligible class member who submits a valid claim will receive four day passes to Vertical Hold rock climbing gym. There is no cash compensation available through this settlement.
All eligible claimants receive the same benefit regardless of how many memberships or day passes they purchased during the class period.
How to claim an award
Class members can file a claim online or download a PDF claim form, print it, complete it and mail it to the settlement administrator.

- Payments to approved class members: Four day passes per valid claimant

When is the Holsapple v. Reactor Inc. payout date?
Eligible class members will receive payment approximately 60 days after the court resolves any appeals and grants final approval to the settlement.
Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged Reactor Inc., d/b/a Vertical Hold rock climbing gym, engaged in discriminatory conduct by offering free or discounted admission to females for certain events while denying or excluding males and nonbinary people from those same opportunities.
The defendants denied all allegations and admitted no liability. Both sides agreed to settle to avoid the costs and uncertainties of litigation and to provide relief to affected class members sooner.
