The Gill Corp. $300,000 Data Breach Class Action Settlement
The Gill Corp. $300,000 Data Breach Class Action Settlement

Individuals whose personal information the cybersecurity incident The Gill Corp. disclosed in September 2024 may be eligible to claim up to $5,000 plus credit monitoring from a class action settlement.

The Gill Corp. agreed to pay $300,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it failed to protect personal information during a data breach that occurred in June 2024.

Who can file a claim?

Eligible class members may file a claim if:

  • They reside in the United States.
  • The data breach The Gill Corp. experienced on or about June 23, 2024, potentially compromised their personal information.
  • They received a notice by mail or email indicating they are part of the class.

The settlement administrator identified class members using contact information The Gill Corp. provided, including last-known mailing addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers. The administrator also performed address updates and skip tracing to reach as many affected individuals as possible. If someone received a notice, it means the administrator identified them as a class member.

How much can class members get?

Class members may be eligible for different types of awards, depending on their circumstances and the type of claim they submit.

  • Documented loss payments: Class members can claim up to $5,000 for actual, documented and unreimbursed monetary losses related to the data breach. To qualify, class members must provide documentation showing:
    • The loss is related to identity theft, fraud or similar misuse.
    • The data breach most likely caused the loss.
    • The loss occurred between June 23, 2024, and Aug. 22, 2025.
  • Cash fund payment: Class members who do not have documented losses may claim a pro rata share of the remaining settlement fund after the settlement administrator pays documented loss claims, attorneys’ fees and costs, and service awards. The exact amount depends on the number of valid claims submitted and the total amount the administrator pays for documented losses. The settlement website estimates that if the administrator does not pay any documented loss claims and approximately 10% of class members submit valid claims, each claimant would receive about $520. However, if class members submit more claims or if the administrator pays documented losses, it will decrease the amount per claimant.
  • Credit monitoring services: All class members may request two years of three-bureau credit monitoring and identity theft protection services with $1 million in insurance regardless of whether they seek monetary relief.
