Consumers whose private information was compromised in the February 2024 Prudential Financial data breach may qualify a cash pament from a class action settlement.

Prudential Financial Inc. agreed to pay $4.75 million to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging it failed to adequately protect sensitive personal information, resulting in a February 2024 cyberattack.

Who can file a Prudential Financial claim?

The class includes all individuals in the United States whose private information was compromised in the February 2024 Prudential Financial data breach.

If consumers received a notice from the settlement administrator, Prudential’s records indicate they are a class member.

How much is the data breach payout?

  • Documented out-of-pocket losses: Up to $5,000 for actual, documented expenses resulting from the data breach. These expenses must have occurred between Feb. 4, 2024, and Oct. 3, 2025, and include fees for credit reports or monitoring, costs to replace IDs and charges related to identity theft or fraud.
  • Social Security number/tax identification number impact payments: Class members whose Social Security number or tax identification number was exposed in the breach can claim a payment estimated between $200-$599.
  • CCPA payments (California residents only): Class members who lived in California and had certain types of sensitive information exposed (such as a driver’s license, passport, credit/debit card or health information) may claim a payment estimated between $100-$599.
  • Pro rata cash payments: Those who do not qualify for the above benefits can still claim a pro rata cash payment. The amount will depend on the number and type of claims filed and the funds remaining after other payments and costs.

How to claim a class action rebate

Class members can file a claim online or download, print and complete a PDF claim form to mail or email to the settlement administrator. All claims must be submitted online, postmarked or emailed by Oct. 3, 2025.

What documentation is required to submit a claim?

  • For documented out-of-pocket losses, claimants must provide receipts or other documentation showing their expenses. Self-written notes are not sufficient alone.
  • No documentation is required for Social Security number/tax identification number impact payments, CCPA payments and pro rata cash payments.

$4.75 million cybersecurity settlement fund breakdown
