
Individuals who paid a special deterrent fee to the City of Overland on or after Aug. 4, 2012, may be eligible to claim $80 from a class action settlement.
The City of Overland agreed to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging it improperly collected special deterrent fees individuals paid as part of plea agreements and to obtain probation on charges brought against them in municipal court. The plaintiff alleges Missouri law does not authorize these fees. The court granted final approval, and eligible class members can now submit claims to receive payment.
Who can file a claim?
Class members must have paid a special deterrent fee to the City of Overland on or after Aug. 4, 2012.
The settlement website provides a searchable list of people who paid the special deterrent fee to help potential claimants determine if they are included in the class.
How much can class members get?
Each eligible class member who submits a valid claim will receive a payment of $80. This amount is fixed and does not vary based on the number of claims filed or the amount of fees each individual paid.
How to claim a class action rebate
Class members can file a claim online or download and print the PDF claim form, complete it and mail it to the settlement administrator.

To file an online claim, class members must provide their last name and claimant ID, which is located on the settlement notice they received.
